Magic: The Gathering

In Magic: The Gathering, a draft is a limited format where players construct decks on the spot by opening booster packs and selecting cards one at a time, passing the remaining cards to other players. This contrasts with Constructed formats where players build decks in advance from their existing card collections.  Each player opens a booster pack and chooses one card to keep, then passes the remaining cards to the next player.  This process of picking and passing continues until all cards in the pack are drafted.  Players repeat this process with two more booster packs, alternating the direction of passing (usually left, then right, then left again).  After all packs are drafted, players use the cards they've collected to build a 40-card deck (including basic lands).
